After David's men guarded Nabal's servants in Carmel, he sent messengers to Nabal to bless him and request an offering for his men. Nabal refused making David so angry he swore to kill all of the men in Nabal's household. Along the way he was met by Abigaia who apologized and brought an offering, and with her words appeased David turning him back. Afterwards she informed Nabal she had saved him from being slain and his heart died within him and Abigail became David's wife.
