1 Reyes 4: ¿Es el estudio algo bueno o malo?

1 Reyes 4:22-34: (Por cuestion de espacio limitado, por favor leer los versos en su biblia)


vs. 23-31 "Dios dio a Salomón sabiduría, gran entendimiento y amplitud de corazón, como la arena que está a la orilla del mar. La sabiduría de Salomón sobrepasaba la de todos los orientales y toda la sabiduría de los egipcios. Él fue el más sabio de todos los hombres: más que Eitán el ezrajita y que Hemán, Calcol y Darda, hijos de Majol. Su nombre llegó a ser conocido en todas la naciones de alrededor.

Este capítulo nos muestra un poco más sobre la vida de Salomón como gobernador, la forma en que organizó su gobierno para que el pueblo pudiera sustentar su hogar en un orden establecido por meses, un mes cada gobernador. También vemos una faceta de Salomón en su vida personal. Aquí vemos que Salomón no solo tenía destreza para administrar y gobernar sino también en el estudio de las ciencias.
En la literatura se desempeñó escribiendo proverbios y salmos. En ciencias naturales investigó sobre las plantas y los animales, mejorando así las técnicas de agricultura y ganadería y aprovechando la tierra al máximo. Aprendió acerca de las diferentes clasificaciones de animales de diferentes especies y plantas. Todas sus investigaciones y descubrimientos los compartía, enseñándoles a todos los monarcas y sabios que venían a visitarlo, pues su fama se extendió por toda la región hasta los lugares más remotos de la tierra.
Tanto así que su sabiduría fue comparada con grandes sabios de la época y Salomón los superó. ¡Imagínese las discusiones y debates que Salomón tenía con grandes pensadores y cómo habrá sido la sorpresa de ellos al escuchar a Salomón!

Recalco hoy sobre este punto para que nuestros hijos y nosotros no menospreciemos la importancia del estudio y la preparación académica.
Años atrás se desanimaba al joven cristiano para que no se preparara académicamente porque algunos decían: "Cristo ya viene, no pierda el tiempo", también decían que todo el que estudiaba se apartaba del camino de Dios.
Aunque Cristo sí viene pronto, esto no es excusa para no estudiar. Y también es cierto que en muchos centros de educación, especialmente universidades, las corrientes filosóficas son muy fuertes y el ambiente muy pesado. Sin embargo, conozco muchos jóvenes y jovencitas de nuestras iglesias que se graduaron como maestras, otros como agentes financieros y otros en el campo de la medicina que todavía permanecen en el camino de Dios. El éxito de ellos es que tenían un buen fundamento de la Palabra de Dios y sus convicciones de fe. No se dejaron engañar ni contaminar de corrientes filosóficas radicales, sabían distinguir el bien y el mal. Ellos enfrentaron esto manteniendo firme sus principios bíblicos y morales.
Los jóvenes pueden estudiar y aprender una habilidad que en seis meses o un par de años ya pueden trabajar independientemente, comenzando sus empresas si no quieren pasar mucho tiempo en una universidad o adquirir una deuda estudiantil.
Lo importante es que nuestros hijos tengan una proyección en sus vidas, que puedan descubrir su vocación en alguna habilidad o profesión, pero que no se queden en un estado de conformidad, viviendo del día a día sin un enfoque o sin preparación.
Obviamente, si alguien se obsesiona y descuida su salud, su familia, su esposa, sus hijos y su vida espiritual por estar estudiando y capacitándose, entonces de seguro se va a "quemar" y va a tener problemas grandes por no hacer un balance en su vida.
Salomón aprendió sobre esto; así que es importante hacer un balance en nuestras vidas personales.

¿Estamos animando a nuestros hijos para que se capaciten y se preparen para su futuro?

1 Kings 4: Is study a good thing or a bad thing?

1 Reyes 4:22-34:
Now Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal, ten fatted oxen, twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl. For he had dominion over all the region on this side of the River from Tiphsah even to Gaza, namely over all the kings on this side of the River; and he had peace on every side all around him. And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, each man under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan as far as Beersheba, all the days of Solomon. Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. And these governors, each man in his month, provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to King Solomon’s table. There was no lack in their supply. They also brought barley and straw to the proper place, for the horses and steeds, each man according to his charge. And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations. He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five. Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish. And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.

This chapter shows us a little more about Solomon's life as a governor, the way in which he organized his government so that the people could support their home in an established order for months, one month for each governor. We also see a side of Solomon in his personal life. Here we see that Solomon not only had skill in administration and government but also in the study of science.
In literature he worked writing proverbs and psalms. In natural sciences, he investigated plants and animals, thus improving agriculture and livestock techniques and making the most of the land. He learned about the different classifications of animals from different species and plants. He shared all his research and discoveries, teaching them to all the monarchs and wise men who came to visit him, since his fame spread throughout the region to the most remote places on earth.
So much so that his wisdom was compared to great wises of the time and Solomon surpassed them. Imagine the discussions and debates that Solomon had with great thinkers and how surprised they would have been when they heard Solomon!

Today I emphasize on this point so that we and our children do not underestimate the importance of study and academic preparation.
Years ago the young Christian was discouraged from preparing academically because some said: "Christ is coming, don't waste time", they also said that everyone who studied strayed from God's path.
Although Christ is coming soon, this is no excuse for not studying. And it is also true that in many educational centers, especially universities, the philosophical currents are very strong and the atmosphere very heavy. However, I know many young men and women from our churches who graduated as teachers, others as financial agents, and others in the medical field who still remain on God's path. Their success is that they had a good foundation in God's Word and their convictions of faith. They were not fooled or contaminated by radical philosophical currents, they knew how to distinguish good and evil. They dealt with this by holding firm to their biblical and moral principles.
Young people can study and learn a skill that in six months or a couple of years they can already work independently, starting their companies if they don't want to spend a lot of time in a university or acquire student debt.
The important thing is that our children have a projection in their lives, that they can discover their vocation in some skill or profession, but that they do not remain in a state of conformity, living from day to day without focus or without preparation.
Obviously, if someone becomes obsessed and neglects his health, his family, his wife, his children and his spiritual life because he is studying and training, then he will surely "burn out" and will have big problems for not making a balance in his life.
Solomon learned about this; so it's important to make a balance in our personal lives.

Are we encouraging our children to train and prepare for their future?
