In today's episode I will be sharing Jonathan Fernandez’s childhood journey. Jonathan Fernandez, is a celebrity makeup artist, and reality tv personality on Love & Hip Hop: New York. In this episode, Jonathan opens up about his past life and shares his experience with conversion therapy. My prayer for this episode, is that we as people can decrease the number of suicide that is happening in the younger community because they choose to live a different lifestyle. I want you to take your judgement glasses off and look through the lens of love. This show is not about accepting people for who they are, but loving people where they are. By no means am I preaching or influencing whether being gay is ok or not, but I'm simply stating that love should be our main focus here. There are so many young people between the ages 5 through 12 who take their own lives on a daily basis in the US according to the centers for Disease Control and prevention. Most are growing up in harmful environments, where they are rejected at home, church, school; they face pervasive bullying; they lack access to safe or supportive spaces, and don't have supportive physical or mental health care, and all of these situations increases the suicide risk by 50% with our younger children. We all need to be aware of this and help decrease the number of suicides with our children and embrace them with love and care. Pay attention to them. I'm not telling you all to be therapists, but we do want to make sure we create safety nets for our children. No matter what. We are facing a very trying and different time here. A different generation of kids. So pay attention to how they come home from school and their moods. Are they acting out? Do they seem angry when they leave school? We should create a safety net where we should be able to communicate with kids about anything. Whether that's sex, the different diseases that are out there, teenage pregnancy, and all of the above! Don't ignore the signs. Sit down and simply communicate with them. It can make a world of difference! I'm sure it won't be the most easiest conversation to have but I can guarantee, if done in love, you can save a life. Please do not send them to conversion therapy where, they perform dangerous procedures with aversion treatments, such as induced vomiting or electric shocks to change one's sexual orientation or gender identity. Suicide attempts nearly triples who reported both home based efforts to change their sexual orientation by parents and intervention efforts by therapists and religious leaders by 63% according to studies. Pray for our children who are struggling. Keep them in your deepest prayers.

Seek help if you can't face this alone. We must raise the awareness for bullying as well. If you or somebody you know, is considering suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-Talk (8255).
