Today marks a sad day in baseball as legendary pitcher & friend of the show, Vida Blue has passed away at the age of 73. I have reposted the interview I was able to do with Vida in 2021 & had such a fun time reminscing on his life & career.
I grew up seeing Vida Blue around town as I grew up in Tracy, Ca & he was always the most humble & friendly guy. I will miss him asking ME what I thought about the current Giants teams.
I figured I owed Vida a tribute today and it was one of the more fun interviews I've been able to do on the Jim on base show. I'm going to miss those random run-ins we would have at the gym, grocery store or at the ballpark.
Rest in Peace Vida.
The former 1971 American League MVP and Cy Young award winner, Vida Blue, told his story of full filing his dream of playing in the big leagues and what it was like to win three consecutive World Series titles. Vida also reminisced on meeting Jackie Robinson, pitching to Willie Mays, and playing golf with President Clinton
