Carmarthenshire County Council is one of the largest unitary authorities in Wales, and the largest local employer with around 8,000 staff. The main departments include; Chief Executives; Communities; Corporate Services; Education and Children; Place and Infastructure. The Council also offer apprenticeship schemes. Apprenticeships are a great opportunity for you to develop your practical skills and get ready for the world of work. Over recent years we have worked with many apprentices to complete a wide range of qualifications. As an apprentice you will learn skills relevant to the role you are training for, complete a nationally recognised qualification and earn a salary. You will work alongside experienced colleagues who will support you to gain experience and learn about the job. Apprenticeships are open to anyone 16 or over, there is no upper age limit but there may be some restrictions or other entry requirements depending on the role you are applying for. You won’t need to pay anything towards your training as this will be supported by us. All our roles, including apprenticeships and graduate roles are advertised on our jobs site, and you will need to apply online.
Anyone over the age of 14 (year 10 in school) can apply for an unpaid work placement. Before you get in touch it is important that you think about what you would like to do for your work experience. We have opportunities in many departments, and it is a great way to get a better idea about what we do as an organisation. We can offer bilingual work experience placements.
