In this atmosphere of racial segregation and injustice, our nation once again is in turmoil over the senseless murder of a black man by the police. In the age of social media and the smartphone, everything is captured on video. The police department can no longer hide as the videos are sent instantly around the world and everyone is seeing the truth. There is a significant way to help the community who struggles with biases that prevents them from proper education, healthcare, and jobs; it's involvement in the early development of the youth.
In this episode of the Family Mess Podcast, we are joined by Ian's childhood friend Lauren Chianese. She's an advocate in education and worked over 10 years in South Central LA as a teacher and policy advocate. Her time with local as well as state government gives her a perspective on race and education policies that are still in place that tend to affect black and Spanish students across the country. Join us as we discuss how racism and the the need for change needs to happen now. If you are interested in supporting Lauren's cause or just want to help with early childhood education, go to www.getkready.com
The website gives the audience an opportunity to get directly involved with a local community to address the need for better healthcare, education and jobs for young mothers and children.
