Era da tanto che non mi capitava qui a Cagliari a Melbourne mi capitava molto spesso: trovarmi in mezzo alla strada nel centro città e venir travolta da qualcosa che sta succedendo lì del tutto inatteso, incredibilmente interessante e provocante, che mi faceva sentire parte di una grande città dove c'era sempre qualcosa che accadeva, dove c'era molto movimento. Questo succedeva abbastanza di frequente a Melbourne, soprattutto quando ero nel centro città, nella city, qui a Cagliari un po' meno, però oggi tornavo a casa dopo aver visitato mia mamma, e sì, in mezzo alla strada ho visto, ho intravisto la mia amica Michela, anzi a dire la verità più che la mia amica Michela ho intravisto il suo cagnolino che lei teneva in braccio e che io ho riconosciuto, poi ho visto il viso suo e riconosciuto anche lei, ma fondamentalmente ho riconosciuto il cane, e mi ha detto, Cristina vieni, e io, ma che succede? È stato un momento di, diciamo di bella follia, anziché tornare a casa mi sono girata, andavano dalla parte esattamente opposta, ma le ho seguite per un bel po', poi sono dovuta tornare a casa perché avevo un appuntamento. Però è stato un momento che ho vissuto la città con occhi diversi, anche poi dopo essermi staccata da loro, loro hanno proseguito verso il Largo, verso il porto, anche mentre tornavo a casa, la città la vedevo con occhi diversi, sarà che era piena di gente, pandemia? E che è la pandemia? È come se non ci fosse mai stata, era proprio... Devo anche dire che nonostante siamo all'inizio di ottobre il tempo è ancora estivo, quindi era veramente pieno di gente fuori: bambini, palloncini, giostre, un signore che faceva queste bolle di sapone giganteschi e bambini sotto che cinguettano. Insomma, un bel momento, un bel momento che sento di voler bene alla mia città e a tutte le persone che ci abitano. Un momento ecumenico di felicità.

It had been a long time since I experienced it here in Cagliari, it used to happen quite frequently in Melbourne, finding myself in the city, and being submerged by something unforeseen that is happening, incredibly interesting, alluring, that made me feel part of a big city, where there was always something happening, there were lots of things going on. This used to happen a lot in Melbourne, especially when I was in the city, here in Cagliari a little less, but today I was returning home after visiting my mom, and yes, in the middle of the street I saw, I glimpsed my friend Michela, actually to tell the truth, rather than my friend Michela I saw the dog she was holding in her arms and I recognised first the dog, then I saw her face and recognised her too, but basically I recognised the dog, and she said to me, Cristina come along, and I, but what happens? It was a moment of, let's say crazy, instead of going home I turned around, they were going the exact opposite way, but I followed them for quite a while, then I had to go home because I had an appointment. But it was a moment that made me experience the city with different eyes, even after I went away, they continued towards the Largo, towards the port, even while I was returning home, I saw the city with different eyes, maybe because it was so full of people, pandemic? Which pandemic? It is as if it had never happened, it was just ... I must also add that although we are at the beginning of October, the weather is still summerly, so it was really full of people outside: children, balloons, rides, a gentleman who was blowing giant soap bubbles and all chirping children below.
