Quando si decide di cambiare posto in cui si vive radicalmente, così come ho fatto io, non solo si lasciano indietro gli amici e le abitudini, ma anche tutta una, tutto uno stuolo di professionisti ai quali ci appoggiamo nella nostra vita. Parlo della mia parrucchiera, la mia ginecologa, il mio dentista e anche il mio medico generico, il medico di famiglia.

Quando mi sono trasferita a Cagliari mi sono trovata col problema di dover cercare un altro medico. Eh vabbè, tralascio l'aspetto burocratico del modo in cui si sceglie il medico eccetera eccetera. Sta di fatto che non volevo limitarmi a scegliere il medico semplicemente da una lista di nomi che mi offriva quelli che sono i medici di famiglia disponibili a ricevere nuovi pazienti. Io volevo fare le cose in modo scientifico, così come faccio spesso quando le cose sono importanti. Cosa ho fatto allora? Ho scelto quattro, cinque medici di famiglia che accettavano nuovi pazienti e che erano più o meno vicini a dove abito, e a tutti ho scritto la stessa identica email.

È stato un po' difficile per alcuni trovare le email perché non avevano traccia visibile su internet. Comunque sono riuscita a trovare un indirizzo e a tutti ho scritto l'identica mail dove tastavo un po' il terreno e facevo alcune domande sulle cose che per me sono importanti. Tra queste anche chiedevo: ma voi cosa ne pensate dell'omeopatia? Tra tutte le persone, tra tutte le email che ho mandato, solo un medico ha risposto alla mia email - e già questo era abbastanza screditate nei confronti degli altri che o non controllano le loro email oppure non gliene fregava niente di rispondere.

Questo medico che mi ha risposto mi ha mandato una mail molto cortese, molto puntuale, dove mi diceva, ah sì, rispondeva alle domande, e per per quello che riguarda l'omeopatia mi diceva sì sì, io a volte ho usato l'omeopatia eccetera eccetera. Io ho risposto allora dicendo che io non credo nell'omeopatia e che questa sua risposta sarebbe stata squalificante normalmente. Però il fatto che sia stato così gentile, così cortese da rispondermi ecco, l'ho scelto come mio medico di famiglia e non mi sono certo pentita perché si è rivelato essere una persona professionalmente capace, squisita, gentile, con un fantastico senso dell'umorismo.

Non vado volentieri dal medico, ma quando sono costretta ad andare dal medico facciamo sempre delle belle chiacchierate ed è una persona veramente deliziosa. E tra l'altro ho scoperto oggi mentre mi mandava una ricetta per delle pastiglie di cui ho bisogno, che segue i miei tre minutini grezzi e quindi dottore, la sto salutando ufficialmente e la ringrazio ancora per essere così squisitamente professionale e sempre disponibile. When I moved to Cagliari I found myself with the problem of having to look for another doctor. Oh well, I leave out the bureaucratic aspect of the way in which the doctor is chosen and so on. The fact is that I didn't want to limit myself to simply choosing the doctor from a list of names that offered me the family doctors available to receive new patients. I wanted to do things scientifically, as I often do when things are important. What did I do then? I chose four, five family doctors who were accepting new patients and who were more or less close to where I live, and I wrote them all the exact same email.

It was a bit difficult for some to find the emails because they had no visible trace on the internet. However, I managed to find an address and I wrote everyone the same email where I asked some questions about the things that are important to me. Among these I also asked: what do you think of homeopathy? Out of all the people, out of all the emails I've sent, only one doctor has responded to my email - and that was bad enough to others who either didn't check their emails or didn't care about replying.

This doctor who answered sent me a very courteous, very punctual email where he said, ah yes, he answered the questions, and as far as homeopathy was concerned he said yes yes, I have sometimes used homeopathy etc etc. I then replied saying that I don't believe in homeopathy and that this answer of his would normally have been disqualifying. But the fact that he was kind enough, kind enough to answer me here, I chose him as my family doctor and I certainly haven't regretted it because he turned out to be a professionally capable, exquisite, kind person with a fantastic sense of humor. I don't like to go to the doctor but when I have to go to the doctor we always have a good chat and he is a really lovely person.
