Insomma, sono molto fortunata, ma semplicemente perché abito in una parte della città piena di servizi, con un'altissima densità di popolazione.

Mia madre abita nella parte vecchia della città, in un quartiere storico che quando io ero bambina era un quartiere malfamato, e poi negli anni '90 ha cominciato a essere... gli appartamenti sono stati acquistati da professionisti, architetti che l'hanno rimesso a posto e adesso il quartiere dove abita mia mamma, lei è una delle pochissime persone che ci abita da più di trent'anni, lei abita da da 50, 60 e più anni lì, per il resto sono negozi che vendono souvenir e bed and breakfast.

Quindi, paradossalmente, io che abito in una parte nuova della città ho a mia disposizione di tutti i servizi di cui ho bisogno, mia madre invece no, perché nel suo quartiere non c'è, non ci sono botteghe, non c'è una banca, non c'è nemmeno uno sportello, non c'è nemmeno un ufficio postale e lei deve fare ben più di 15 minuti per raggiungere tutti questi servizi.

Il problema della città da 15 minuti è tornato in auge o comunque è stato presentato negli ultimi decenni e parte dal presupposto che se non dobbiamo fare i chilometri per arrivare ai servizi di cui abbiamo bisogno, stanno tutti meglio.

Quindi un problema non di mobilità, non di avere trasporti migliori, bensì un problema di accesso, avere accesso a quello che ci serve dove abitiamo.

Ci sono molte parti della regione dove abito, della Sardegna, che non hanno né accesso e né mobilità, che non ci sono né mezzi di trasporto né servizi di cui la gente ha bisogno, e ancora penso al quartiere dove abita mia mamma, dove non ci sono, dove non passano nemmeno mezzi di trasporto al suo interno. Quindi chi vuole accedere ai servizi deve farsela a piedi, in bicicletta non è molto consigliato perché è un quartiere che si chiama Castello, è messo in cima a una montagna.

So, paradoxically, I, living in a new part of the city, have at my disposal all the services I need, my mother does not, because in her neighborhood there is no, no stores, no bank, not even a bank counter, not even a post office, and she has to walk well over 15 minutes to reach all these services.

The problem of the 15-minute city is back in vogue or at any rate has been presented in recent decades and assumes that if we don't have to drive the miles to get to the services we need, everyone is better off.

So a problem not of mobility, not of having better transportation, but a problem of access, having access to what we need where we live.
