Il mare in Sardegna è una cosa un po' complicata, almeno per me, perché io in Sardegna ci sono nata e da sempre sono abituata, fin da bambina, ad andare al mare in posti fantastici dove l'acqua è trasparente, azzurra, le spiagge hanno la sabbia sottile, diverse spiagge con sabbia di diversi colori e, almeno gran parte dell'anno, posti dove ci va anche poca gente, quindi si può godere della solitudine sulla spiaggia, che è la cosa più bella.

Dicevo, è una cosa un po particolare il mare in Sardegna, perché se in Sardegna ci sei nata, poi diventa un po' complicato andare a fare il bagno da altre parti. Io ricordo le prime volte che ho cominciato a vedere le spiagge fuori dalla Sardegna, forse una delle prime spiagge che ho visto non sarda era il Lido a Venezia, che non riuscivo nemmeno a riconciliare il fatto che fosse una spiaggia perché era così diversa, così... sì, diversa, adesso non voglio usare aggettivi, però era molto diversa dalle cose alle quali ero abituata.

Poi più avanti ho visto anche spiagge molto belle in Asia, in Africa e in Australia, naturalmente ci sono delle spiagge fantastiche, però c'è sempre questa cosa qua che io ricordo ventimila anni fa quando sono andata in un'isola della Thailandia che all'epoca era conosciuta pochissimo, e adesso invece ho scoperto è diventata una cosa molto turistica, parlo degli anni '90 l'isola di Ko Samui, e ricordo questa spiaggia bellissima, l'acqua trasparente, e le persone che erano con me che dicevano, me guarda questa cosa bellissima, bellissima, e io dicevo, sì, sì, molto bella, molto bella, però non era niente di diverso da quello a cui io ero abituata. Ma stessa cosa per le Fiji, stessa cosa per un sacco di posti dove sono stata, dove c'era l'acqua bella trasparente, però quando si è abituata a vedere il fondo, la sabbia stando su una barca con quattro metri d'acqua tra te e il fondo, diciamo che è un po difficile che si rimanga colpiti dalla bellezza delle spiagge, appunto perché si nasce un po' penalizzati e ci si fa anche un po la figura della persona un po' spocchiosa che non si accontenta mai.

And same thing for Fiji, same thing for a lot of places I've been to, where there was beautiful clear water, however when you're used to seeing the bottom, the sand being on a boat with four meters of water between you and the bottom, let's say it's a little difficult for you to be impressed by the beauty of the beaches, precisely because you're born a little penalised and you also come across as a little bit of a snooty person who's never satisfied.

And in fact there are many Sardinians who say eh, the sea of Sardinia, the most beautiful sea in the world. It bothers me a lot because these are people who have never left home. But unfortunately they are also right that the sea in Sardinia is a magnificent thing, I have been to places that gave me the impression of being in church with organs playing and goosebumps because they are really magical places.
