Joe Manchin's push for "means testing" all while both him and his wife receive huge amounts of money from coal industry investments begs a simple question in my mind each time I hear him speak the two words of means testing. The question being -is this means testing to only push cost numbers down, or push away from the huge benefit many of these policies (child tax credit, climate funding etc.) offer this country for once...we see Dems lining up for SALT, but when it comes back to the bare minimum seen in BBB, the excuses of price is rampant throughout all conversations. I guess money truly speaks for itself and it is alarming, but comforting to now know the true colors of many of these politicians who say one thing, but act on another. Manchin's always done that, and I never really understood the reason why people gave him so much trust on this bill. The irony of it all is that it lined up well. He received donations from Republican donors & PACs and then went onto Fox to announce his disapproval for, pretty much, Manchin's own version of BBB. Interestingly all wrapping back to my point of money speaking for itself. I knew this bill died once they split "human infrastructure" and "real infrastructure" a part, what's upsetting is that people (mostly Biden, Schumer and Pelosi) actually held trust in someone like Manchin for this long.
