walaakum salaam one of the methods some of us have used when dealing with our children esp our older children... .when you find yourself upset with something they've done or said, you use the word 'we' which is one of the ways our teacher Aisha bint Miqbul would use. She wouldn't say 'you' from what I gather (and I don't know much). When repreminding the women during lessons wa Allahu alim. So, I like to use this when dealing with anyone actually b/c the reality is that 'we' are all in this dunya together striving to learn we don't know if one day we'll be tested with the same disobediences that we witness. And when we say 'you' do this or that, its more like an attack and most creatures feel unease and threatened when they feel attacked. For example, my son said something rude to me... my reply would be. We have to respect our parents because Allah has ordered us to. Even just saying Allah sometimes they may not get it. So, you can add His qualities. Like the One who Created the Sun, moon, our bones, flesh, mind the sea, water, gave us a heart and fashioned us from the earth and give us facilties etc... this allows for the gravity of His Greatness to be understood wa Allahu alim. Allahu Yafudukum
