show moreWestover helps us understand the distinction between the purpose of life and the meaning of life.
Michael Westover looked in the mirror one day and wondered what the point of it was. He had a successful career in health care, a stable family, and great friendships. Yet, he felt aimless. His life was full—meetings to further his career, hours of TV, activities with his children—but was it worthwhile? Westover wondered why countless people coasted through life as he had, feeling lost and disconnected, while others approached each day feeling worthy and valuable.
He wanted answers. But also, He wanted to feel worthwhile. So, he embarked on a journey for insight. But Westover didn’t just look to the modern era for clues to solve this question…he dug through centuries of research and set out on a philosophical passage to find connection and meaning. What he discovered significantly changed the way he lives his life! He learned that living a life that matters is simpler than we may imagine! And following five types of commitment that are research-proven to give life more meaning, we can all build a worthwhile life and avoid the cycle of distractions.
Westover gives advice from being a good neighbor, human steward or even what to do when life becomes overwhelming. He discusses the value of belief in a higher source, spirituality, faith or religion and how those practices can tether and build a sense of belonging and community as well as foster positive individual ideals. He answers the question as to whether its better to have a happy life or a meaningful life and why and even what a meaningful life looks life as we grow older. He discusses the power of nature, the importance of leaving your comfort zone, how to break out of a slump and so much more!
From beginning to end, Westover shares wisdom, philosophy, stories and cites sources that educate, inspire and enlighten us towards better understanding A Worthwhile Life!
