The Phillies failed to complete the sweep of the Miami Marlins Sunday afternoon losing in 10 innings 7-6! With the score tied at 6 in the bottom of the 10th inning, Miami’s Emmanuel Rivera hit a game-winning single off the body of relief pitcher Gregory Soto that rolled into shallow right field for the walk off win.
Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler struggled through 4 innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits while only striking out 2 and walking 3.
Both teams would blow three run leads in the game. Nick Casellanos got the Phillies started in the 1st inning with a three-run homer, his 4th homer of the season and 2nd in his last three games. Then with thanks in large part to Josh Bell's three run home run off Wheeler in the 3rd and a 2-run 4th inning, the Marlins opened a 6-3 lead. Phillies rallied to tie the game up at 6 in the 6th thanks to A2 run triple from Edmundo Sosa and a sack fly RBI from Brandon Marsh.
Phillies now head to New York to open up a split four-game series with the Mets.
