Allerleirauh is a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm in which a princess, bound by her dying mother's wish and threatened by her own father's obsession, is forced to flee her kingdom in disguise. Cloaked in donkey fur and covered in soot, she hides in plain sight as a kitchen servant — carrying three magical mantles and a fairy's gifts as her only connection to who she truly is. Each royal ball brings her closer to a king who cannot stop thinking about the radiant stranger who vanishes before dawn, while danger and longing press in from both sides.
