The trailer for Netflix's new docuseries, "American Nightmare," delves into a peculiar and escalating case of home invasion and abduction. Set to premiere on January 17, this three-part series revisits the bizarre 2015 case of Denise Huskins' disappearance and the subsequent skepticism surrounding the testimony of her boyfriend, Aaron Quinn. In the opening of the trailer, Quinn is heard speaking to a 911 operator, stating, “My girlfriend, Denise, got kidnapped last night.” To which the operator responds with surprise, asking why he didn't call the night of the incident. Quinn's unexpected reply: “I was tied up.”

The trailer highlights a scene where police interrogate Aaron Quinn. He recounts a bizarre incident where intruders in wet suits incapacitated both him and Denise Huskins using blindness and tasers. A skeptical officer inquires, "Did they swim in?" Quinn insists on his innocence, despite being accused of involvement in the abduction. The plot thickens when Huskins reappears two days later, seemingly returned by her abductors, turning the investigation into a widely discussed topic. Public figures, including Nancy Grace, start doubting their story, comparing Huskins to the fictional character in Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel "Gone Girl." The trailer concludes with police discovering zip ties, toy guns, and a blowup doll, adding more intrigue to the already perplexing case.

Matthew Muller, who is already serving a 40-year federal sentence, received additional sentencing in Solano County Superior Court. He entered a no contest plea to two counts of forcible rape of Denise Huskins, following her 2015 abduction from her Vallejo home, as announced by the county's district attorney's office.
