Physics Professor Marlon Aldridge discusses the skills needed to truly understand and master science courses. Many times students struggle in science courses because their viewpoint is limited to memorization and lacks the totality of what their minds are capable of performing. Marlon repositions science as a series of judgements based on verbal, sematical, logical, mathematical, relational, pictorial, and experiential skills which serve as guideposts. Development of each reduces anxiety and serves as a basis for ciritical thinking and problem solving. From this perspective the content is the context in which these other skills are developed.
