show moreAuthoring an authentic book to spotlight your knowledge is the title of The FSG Messaging and Optics Podcast Wait What Really OK S6.E08.N111 hosted by Messaging and Optics Strategist Loren Weisman.
If you are looking to write a book rooted in the authenticity and authority to spotlight what you know, consider some of these thoughts and ideas in this podcast.
This podcast is not focused on discouraging anyone from writing a book. If you have a book in you that represents your authenticity, your authority and your knowledge, by all means, write that book. But, if you are trying to write a book for only hype, promotional and marketing reasons, writing a book, might not be for you.
Remember, Weisman says..“Publishing a book does not make you an authority or an expert. Authorship doesn’t not equal authority.”
"Not everyone has a book in them." This stands true for some that have put out books that were disguised and hyped as professional, helpful, authentic and authoritative, but they were far from it. So many books on the market in recent days are often times created to spotlight someones services and abilities. Some of the issues that arise though is that they use other peoples quotes, other peoples formats and other peoples messaging twisted enough to not get in trouble and present a false sense of authority.
If you are looking to write a book today and in the climate of these dime store, snake oil style books that come out with very large spacing, very large fonts and a bulk of the content coming from someone else, it is a good idea to consider how you structure, outline and mobilize your book, the content, and the brand messaging for it.
When you take that extra time and effort to mobilize the methodology, messaging, management and motion of your book, you offer a voice and a tone that can stand out in a sea of oversaturated hype. Take those extra steps to brand your book from your authority over trying to write a book to be seen as an authority.
"It is very easy to write a book and very easy to publish a book these days. It is also very easy to get it up on Amazon. However, it is not as easy to write a good book and It is not as easy to write an authentic and authoritative book" says Weisman
