Silicon Valley Bank was a regional bank and the 16th largest bank in the company. At the beginning of March, 2023 the bank collapsed due to 2 reasons: 1) Diversification of its customer type and investments, and 2) bank run.

Silicon Valley Bank specialized in financing and banking for mostly technology companies. The tech sector has been experiencing a decline and have been having mass layoffs. That means less revenue to cover expenses and larger withdrawals to meet payroll and pay bills. They also made bad investment choices by investing in long-term US Treasury bonds that tied up the money and made them unable to cover deposits.
