Join hosts Tim and Shannon as they discuss binge watching TV. They will be delving into habit VS addiction, the science behind addiction, and what happens to your brain while binging. We will be speaking with our Awaken Star, Dr. David Julius Ford, Jr., an Assistant Professor, Professional Counseling, along with our Goodwill Partner, Taylor Neary, the executive chef and owner of Holmes, a neighborhood restaurant and bar .
David Julius Ford, Jr. holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Wake Forest University. In May 2014, he earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Old Dominion University. Dr. Ford is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and New Jersey. He is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). Dr. Ford taught for four years at James Madison University and is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Professional Counseling at Monmouth University and serves and the President-elect of the New Jersey Counseling Association.
Taylor Neary is executive chef And owner of Holmes, a neighborhood restaurant and bar within the historic Jones House at Alpharetta City Center. A Roswell (Georgia) native, Chef Neary serves eclectic dishes made with locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients from area farms. Prior to opening Holmes in July 2018, Chef Neary attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta. During that time, he worked at Stoney River Grill, Roswell’s legendary steakhouse, before continuing on to Buckhead Life Group’s Kyma. Over the last seven years, Chef Neary has helped lead kitchens at acclaimed restaurants across town, including Roux on Canton, Little Alley Steak, Opulent, St. Cecilia, and Marcel, where he most recently served as sous chef.
