show moreHer violent past began in her youth when she was mocked by her peers and her father for being overweight. At the age of 10, Brandy's father, who referred to her as "Ms. Piggy," forced her to start dieting because he wanted Brandy to lose weight. Because of her father's verbal and emotional abuse, Brandy developed eating disorders and attempted suicide twice. Finally, at the age of 16, Brandy developed a positive body image and began to love herself as she was.
