Could that be a decisive factor in the championship as it hits full stride - with Marcus Ericsson stalking Newgarden for the win - while Penske’s team-wide struggles for the year may not be over?

Andretti, which had a 1-2-3 at Mid-Ohio last year, is also part of the discussion as two of its drivers who are fighting to keep their seats crashed into each other on the first lap amid some of their best starting positions of the year.

All four Andretti cars qualified in the top 10 but after Colton Herta was robbed of a front-running place by pitstop drama, and only Alexander Rossi took a top 10 in fifth.
