Aegon II è pronto ad uscire dal suo nascondiglio e tornare a casa. Il suo ritorno però non è destinato ad andare nel migliore dei modi, così come il suo regno. Rifiutando le offerte di Corlys Velaryon e procedendo a punire i lord delle Terre della Corona che hanno supportato la sorella, al posto che sciogliersi la causa nera si fortifica: l'esercito delle Terre dei Fiumi si mette in marcia su King's Landing, e appena dietro di lui un enorme esercito scende per l'Incollatura, guidato da Cregan Stark. Anche Jeyne Arryn manda i suoi uomini, che arriveranno per mare... e con loro ci sarà un drago. Cosa resta da fare, ad Aegon II?
