Bluewater Productions is proud to announce the release this week of a comic book biography on the life of Bono as part of their popular Fame series. Fame: Bono is...
show moreAs the lead singer of U2, Bono electrifies audiences with his dynamic stage presence, while his electrifying persona draws people to social causes that concern all of us. His story is born from a divided Ireland and the dueling nature of the rock star live versus a devout faith.
"Bono is a fascinating artist. Equal parts rock star, goodwill ambassador, and humanitarian, his work has stood the test of time," said writer Frizell.
"Writing about U2's front man was a daunting task. They've remade themselves time and again, and their philanthropic service paints an eclectic portrait, making them hard to define. Even their name is a call to action, echoing the themes inherent in they're early work," continued Frizell.
"In writing the comic, I wanted to convey the legendary performer as the ultimate Everyman. Bono comes from humble beginnings and experienced teenage years rife with angst and artistic growth and expression played against a backdrop of political strife. As a writer, who could ask for a more interesting subject?"
“Some celebrities are just media sensations but then there’s someone like Bono who is a major inspiration to so many people. I have such respect for him and his story after working on this comic book,” said Bluewater publisher Darren G. Davis. Bluewater has focused on other music icons in the past such as Paul McCartney, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Prince, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Keith Richards and more.
“U2 as a band is inspirational - particularly Bono. I am awed by his unique creativity and the band's concept, particularly his stage persona as the fly!” said artist Jayfri Hashim.
Cover artist David Frizell agrees with Hashim’s sentiment, saying, “When I work on a portrait, I try to capture the creative power of my subject. With Bono, there’s much from which to draw.”
The print version of the book is available only at Comic Flea Market at www.comicfleamarket.com. Copies may also be downloaded to e-readers from iTunes, Kindle, Wowio, ComiXology, DriveThru Comics, Google Play, Madefire, My Digital Comics, Overdrive, Iverse, Biblioboard, Flipkart, Axis360, Epic!, Blio, Entitle, Comicblender.com, Indie Comic Tracker, Wheeler, Scoop, Nook, Kobo and wherever eBooks are sold.
Coming soon are comic books featuring George Harrison and the cast of Doctor Who.
