David B. Wheeler is a Democratic political activist, entrepreneur, and the co-founder and president of American Muckrakers. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
He is best known for his work with the American Muckrakers PAC, a political action committee focused on uncovering and publicizing negative information and controversies involving high-profile Republican political figures. [2, 6]
Key Roles and Activities

American Muckrakers PAC: Wheeler founded the group to aggressively target political opponents. The PAC gained significant national attention for releasing a series of unproven, salacious allegations aimed at derailing the re-election campaign of U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert. [1, 6, 7]
Defamation Lawsuit: After Rep. Boebert went on national television to deny the claims and call Wheeler a "scumbag," Wheeler and his PAC sued her for defamation in federal court. The legal battle impacted the PAC's fundraising before both parties formally settled and dismissed the lawsuit. [6, 7, 8]
Media and Podcasts: He hosts the podcast MUCK YOU!, produced by American Muckrakers, where he discusses political campaigns, independent candidates, and corporate or political disinformation. [1]
Political Candidacy: Beyond his activism, Wheeler is an active politician in North Carolina. He previously ran for the North Carolina State Senate and launched a campaign as a Democratic candidate for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner. [3, 4, 9]
Professional Background: Based out of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, Wheeler is a single father and a long-time entrepreneur who has started multiple for-profit and non-profit organizations. He holds a degree in political science and economics from the University of Iowa. [2, 3, 9]
