Welcome to Day 1732 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomBible Knowledge – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1732 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Billy Graham, and it is: A knowledge of the Bible is essential to a rich and meaningful life.
Bible Knowledge
Billy Graham was undoubtedly the most influential evangelist of our modern age, with his active ministry spanning over 60 years. His knowledge of the Bible was extensive. So it should be with us. Knowing God’s Word is essential to be able to live by its precepts that are found within. The more extensively we understand the Scriptures from the perspective of its original authors and the culture in which they lived, the more we can understand what God desires of us as His imagers. We need to let the Bible be what it is. While it can teach us about nature and science, that is not its primary purpose. While it can teach us some history, it is not primarily a history book.
I’m suggesting that the path to accurate biblical understanding requires that we don’t make the Bible conform to our traditions, prejudices, personal crises, or our culture’s intellectual battles. Yes, you’ll find material in Scripture that will help you resolve personal difficulties and questions. But you must remember that, while the Bible was written for us, it wasn’t written to us. What the authors wrote is still vital for our lives today, but we can only accurately discern the message if we let them speak as they spoke.
The point is that letting the Bible be what it is not only helps us interpret Scripture accurately, but it has incredible apologetic value. Taking Scripture on its own terms helps our focus and fends off distractions. When Scripture is rightly understood, its relevance will also be clear.
As Billy Graham said: A knowledge of the Bible is essential to a rich and meaningful life.

Jesus put it this way:
John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
