Vijay Krishna Acharya's Dhoom 3 closes out the trilogy by more or less handing it to Aamir Khan, who plays twin brothers running a circus magic act in Chicago and robbing the bank that ruined their father. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra are back as Jai and Ali, Katrina Kaif joins the act, and Jackie Shroff turns up in an extended cameo. The film wants to be far more serious than the first two while still having their fun, and the question is whether a franchise this light ever needed a star of Aamir's caliber.
The Bollywood Cinema Club's Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, and Richard Hatem (screenwriter and producer) talk Aamir's double role, a twist the film doesn't play fair with, chase scenes that lean on slow motion (and a motorcycle that turns into a jet ski), why Indian superstars don't chase Hollywood, and the Christopher Nolan gloom that drained the joy out of action filmmaking.
