The prevalence of extreme obesity has increased dramatically in the U.S., from 1 in 35 adults in the 1990's to 1 in 20 in 2004. Obesity is associated with higher incidence of breast cancer, later-stage breast cancer diagnosis, and higher breast and cervical cancer mortality--and many other cancers! Obese women are less likely to receive breast and cervical cancer screening examinations. Together, this is a deadly combination.
