December 16: New Priestly Order.

Psalm 110:1-7:
The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth.
The Lord has sworn and will not relent, “You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”
The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall judge among the nations, He shall fill the places with dead bodies, He shall execute the heads of many countries. He shall drink of the brook by the wayside; therefore He shall lift up the head.

Psalm 111:1-10:
Praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them. His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and full of compassion. He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. He has declared to His people the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations. The works of His hands are verity and justice; all His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments.His praise endures forever.


Yesterday we saw through Psalm 109 the moment of betrayal that Jesus suffered, when He was handed over to be crucified.
In this psalm, 109, we see a Messiah but not suffering and dying. NO!, but one victorious, full of glory, and being exalted in heaven.
Here we see one of the psalms that Paul used to teach about the priestly order that Jesus Christ came to impose in the new stage for the children of God now in the time of grace.

Whereas at the time when Jesus came into the world, the priestly order was that of Aaron, according to the law of Moses. All were governed by this law and the priests were only descendants of the sons of Aaron. All the helpers who served in the temple and assisted the priests came from the tribe of Levi.
But when Jesus Christ came, He came as king and priest of an eternal priestly order! This order is that of Melchizedek. The one who received from the hand of Abraham the tithes and offerings of the spoils of war that he obtained when he went to rescue his nephew Lot.
Paul reveals to us that this Melchizedek is a king of a city called Salem which means Peace. And he is also a priest because Abraham honored him, offering the due offerings and sacrifices in gratitude to God for having delivered him. He is a type and figure of the Messiah. He represents Jesus Christ in the Old Testament.
This is important to know because all of us who are believers in Jesus are no longer subject to the law of Moses or the order of Aaron, but to the order of Jesus Christ, where everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, and where everyone who are washed by the blood of Jesus will be able to enter His presence and find forgiveness of sins. Jesus Christ is a priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

Moving on to the next psalm, the 111, this was written in a Hebrew literary modality, where each written phrase begins with the letters of the Hebrew alphabet. So if it were our alphabet, the first verse begins with A, the second with B, and so on. Some Bibles still have these letters for reference to the reader. The psalmist composed a song honoring God and His wonderful benefits to His people and to the congregation of the righteous. This congregation is not only the descendants of Jacob, of the people of Israel, but in Revelation we read the description of a multitude like the sand of the sea, billions of people worshiping the Lord.

Salmos 110:1‭-‬7 RVA2015:
El SEÑOR dijo a mi señor: “Siéntate a mi diestra hasta que ponga a tus enemigos como estrado de tus pies”. El SEÑOR enviará desde Sion el cetro de tu poder; domina en medio de tus enemigos. En el día de tu poder tu pueblo se te ofrecerá voluntariamente en la hermosura de la santidad. Desde el nacimiento de la aurora tú tienes el rocío de la juventud. El SEÑOR juró y no se retractará: “Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melquisedec”. El Señor está a tu mano derecha; aplastará a los reyes en el día de su ira. Juzgará entre las naciones; las llenará de cadáveres. Aplastará a los jefes sobre la extensa tierra. Beberá del arroyo en el camino, por lo cual levantará su cabeza.

Salmos 111:1‭-‬10 RVA2015:
¡Aleluya! Daré gracias al SEÑOR con todo mi corazón en la reunión y en la congregación de los rectos. Grandes son las obras del SEÑOR, buscadas por todos los que se complacen en ellas. Gloria y hermosura es su obra, y su justicia permanece para siempre. Hizo memorables sus maravillas; clemente y misericordioso es el SEÑOR. Da alimento a los que le temen; para siempre se acordará de su pacto. El poder de sus obras manifestó a su pueblo al darle la heredad de las naciones. Las obras de sus manos son verdad y justicia; fieles son todas sus ordenanzas. Son afirmadas eternamente y para siempre, hechas con verdad y rectitud. Ha enviado redención a su pueblo; para siempre ha ordenado su pacto. Santo y temible es su nombre. El principio de la sabiduría es el temor del SEÑOR. Buen entendimiento tienen todos los que ponen esto por obra. Su loor permanece para siempre.


Ayer miramos por medio del salmo 108 el momento de la traición que sufrió Jesús, cuando fue entregado para ser crucificado.
En este salmo, el 109, vemos a un Mesías pero no sufriendo y moribundo. ¡NO!, sino a uno victorioso, lleno de gloria, y siendo exaltado en los cielos.
Aquí vemos uno de los salmos que Pablo usó para enseñar acerca del orden sacerdotal que Jesucristo vino a imponer en la nueva etapa para los hijos de Dios ahora en el tiempo de la gracia.

en la época en que Jesús vino al mundo, la orden sacerdotal era la de Aarón, conforme a la ley de Moisés. Todos se regían bajo esta ley y los sacerdotes eran solamente los descendientes de los hijos de Aarón. Todos los ayudantes que servían en el templo y ayudaban a los sacerdotes venían de la tribu de Leví.
Pero cuando Jesucristo vino, ¡Él vino como rey y sacerdote de una orden sacerdotal eterna! Esta orden es la de Melquisedec. Aquel que recibió de la mano de Abraham los diezmos y ofrendas de los despojos de guerra que obtuvo cuando fue a rescatar a su sobrino Lot.
Pablo nos revela que este Melquisedec es un rey de una ciudad llamada Salem que significa Paz. Y es también sacerdote porque Abraham lo honró, ofreciendo las debidas ofrendas y sacrificios en agradecimiento a Dios por haberlo librado. Él es tipo y figura del Mesías. Él representa a Jesucristo en el antiguo testamento.
Esto es importante saberlo porque todos aquellos que somos creyentes de Jesús ya no estamos sujetos a la ley de Moisés ni al orden de Aarón, sino al orden de Jesucristo, donde todo aquel que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo, y donde todo aquel que esté lavado por la sangre de Jesús podrá entrar a su presencia y hallar el perdón de pecados. Jesuscristo es sacerdote según la orden de Melquisedec.

Pasando al siguiente salmo, el 111, este fue escrito en una modalidad literaria hebrea, donde cada estrofa escrita comienza con las letras del alfabeto hebreo. Por decir, si fuera nuestro alfabeto,la primera estrofa
comienza con la A, el segundo con la B, y así sucesivamente. Algunas Biblias todavía tienen estas letras como referencia al lector. El salmista compuso un canto honrando a Dios y sus maravillosas bondades para con su pueblo y con la congregación de los justos. Esta congregación no solo son los descendientes de Jacob, del pueblo de Israel sino que en Apocalipsis leemos la descripción de una multitud como la arena del mar, miles de millones de personas adorando al Señor.
