December 18: He remembers us.

Psalms 115:1-14:
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth. Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?” But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears, but they do not hear; noses they have, but they do not smell; they have hands, but they do not handle; feet they have, but they do not walk; nor do they mutter through their throat. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them. O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.
You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield. The Lord has been mindful of us;
He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great. May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children.

Psalms 116:12-19:
What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. O Lord, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people, in the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem.


Like most psalms, these two psalms we are studying today are declarations of full trust in the Lord.
Psalm 115 makes a contrast between the living God and the other gods of the other nations. The other gods are represented and designed with different materials such as stone, clay, wood, metal such as gold and silver. Their figures are formed with "imaginary" figures that the same human being has given to each of the gods that they profess to worship.
As we have already said before, each element of the earth is represented by a God: water, rain, sun, love, war and peace, etc. Each civilization has adopted its own "god", worshiping several but choosing their favorite.
In contrast, the people of Israel worshiped a God who appeared to them through a dark cloud and fire on Mount Sinai when they were freed from slavery in Egypt.
The Lord was clear with them that He did not show them any image, animal or human figure, so that they would not make an idol to represent Him.
That is why the people of Israel were different from the others because they did not have a specific image that represented the God of Israel, but they had a temple and an ark that they transported wherever they went and in that ark that glorious cloud of God was manifested when they worshiped the Lord.
That is the God we worship today. Although God manifested Himself as a man and died on the cross of Calvary, we still don't worship Him in front of an image but we close our eyes, kneel and talk with Him because we understand that He is God who fills the heavens and the earth. Every time you call the Lord in prayer invoking the name of Jesus, He makes Himself present there.

The 116 is the psalm of someone who felt death closely, was in a critical moment and thought that he was not going to get out of that circumstance, but he cried out to the Lord and God delivered him. For this he feels grateful and does not know how to pay the Lord, and he can only make a toast, not of wine but of salvation, proclaiming in public that God saves and delivers from death.
That is why the death of those who love God is esteemed. It hurts God when one of His worshipers and faithful dies on earth, when someone who gave a good example of his faith has to leave this world.
I can imagine the Lord in pain, because one of His best representatives will no longer shine in the earth proclaiming His Word and His works, nor will he sing any more songs of worship and praise to the Lord.
That is why the psalmist, when he was sick or weak, asked God to raise him up to worship Him in life, and that if God gave him life, he would use it to proclaim in the name of the Lord. That is why we must take advantage of our time here on earth so that one day God will tell us: "In the little you have been faithful, in the much I will put you."

Consider this:
Do you need an object or figure to feel God's presence or do you just close your eyes and start worshiping Him?
Can you feel God continually?

Diciembre 18: Él se acuerda de nosotros.

Salmos 115:1‭-‬14 RVA2015:
No a nosotros, oh SEÑOR, no a nosotros, sino a tu nombre da gloria por tu misericordia y tu verdad. ¿Por qué han de decir las naciones: “¿Dónde está su Dios?”. ¡Nuestro Dios está en los cielos! ¡Ha hecho todo lo que ha querido! Los ídolos de ellos son de plata y oro, obra de manos de hombres. Tienen boca pero no hablan; tienen ojos pero no ven; tienen orejas pero no oyen; tienen nariz pero no huelen; tienen manos pero no palpan; tienen pies pero no andan; no emiten sonido con su garganta. Como ellos, son los que los hacen y todos los que en ellos confían. ¡Oh Israel, confía en el SEÑOR! Él es su ayuda y su escudo. ¡Oh casa de Aarón, confía en el SEÑOR! Él es su ayuda y su escudo. ¡Los que temen al SEÑOR, confíen en el SEÑOR! Él es su ayuda y su escudo. El SEÑOR se acuerda de nosotros; él nos bendecirá. Bendecirá a la casa de Israel, bendecirá a la casa de Aarón. Bendecirá a los que temen al SEÑOR, a pequeños y a grandes. El SEÑOR aumentará bendición sobre ustedes; sobre ustedes y sobre los hijos de ustedes.

Salmos 116:12‭-‬19 RVA2015:
¿Qué daré al SEÑOR por todas sus bendiciones para conmigo? Alzaré la copa de la salvación e invocaré el nombre del SEÑOR. Cumpliré mis votos al SEÑOR delante de todo su pueblo. Estimada es en los ojos del SEÑOR la muerte de sus fieles. Escúchame, oh SEÑOR, porque yo soy tu siervo; soy tu siervo, hijo de tu sierva. Tú rompiste mis cadenas. Te ofreceré sacrificio de acción de gracias e invocaré el nombre del SEÑOR. Cumpliré mis votos al SEÑOR delante de todo su pueblo en los atrios de la casa del SEÑOR, en medio de ti, oh Jerusalén. ¡Aleluya!


Como la mayoría de los salmos, estos dos salmos que estamos estudiando hoy son declaraciones de confianza plena en el Señor.
El salmo 115 hace un contraste entre el Dios viviente y los otros dioses de las demás naciones. Los demás dioses son representados y diseñados con diferentes materiales como la piedra, el barro, la madera, el metal como el oro y la plata. Sus figuras son formadas con figuras “imaginarias” que el mismo ser humano le ha dado a cada uno de los dioses que ellos profesan adorar.
Como ya lo hemos dicho anteriormente cada elemento de la tierra es representado por un Dios: el agua, la lluvia, el sol, el amor, la guerra y la paz, etc. Cada civilización ha adoptado su propio “dios'', adorando a varios pero escogiendo a su preferido.
En contraste, el pueblo de Israel adoraba un Dios que se les manifestó por medio de una nube oscura y fuego en el monte Sinaí cuando fueron librados de la esclavitud en Egipto.
El señor fue claro con ellos de que no les mostraba ninguna imagen, figura de animal o de ser humano, para que ellos no se hicieran un ídolo que lo representara a Él.
Por eso el pueblo de Israel era diferente a los demás pueblos porque ellos no tenían una imagen específica que representaba al Dios de Israel, sino que tenían un templo y un arca que transportaban donde quiera que iban y en esa arca se manifestaba esa nube gloriosa de Dios cuando ellos adoraban al Señor.
Ese es el Dios que adoramos hoy en día. Aunque Dios se manifestó como hombre y murió en la cruz del calvario, aún así no lo adoramos al frente de una imagen sino que cerramos nuestros ojos, nos arrodillamos y hablamos con Él porque entendemos que Él es Dios que llena los cielos y la tierra. Cada vez que llamas al Señor en oración invocando el nombre de Jesús, Él se hace allí presente.

El 116 es el salmo de alguien que sintió de cerca la muerte, estuvo en un momento crítico y pensó que ya no iba a salir de esa circunstancia, pero él clamó al Señor y Dios lo libró. Por eso se siente agradecido y no sabe cómo pagarle al Señor, y sólo puede hacer un brindis, pero no de vino sino de salvación, proclamando en público que Dios salva y libra de la muerte.
Por eso es estimada la muerte de los que aman a Dios. A Dios le duele cuando uno de sus adoradores y fieles fallece en la tierra, cuando alguien que dio buen ejemplo de su fe tiene que partir de este mundo.
Puedo imaginar al Señor adolorido, porque uno de sus mejores representantes ya no va a brillar más en la tierra pregonando su Palabra y sus obras, ni va a cantar más canciones de adoración y alabanza al Señor.
Por eso el salmista, cuando estaba enfermo o débil, pedía a Dios que lo levantara para adorarlo en vida, y que si Dios le daba la vida, él la usaría para proclamar el nombre del Señor.
Por eso debemos aprovechar el tiempo aquí en la tierra para que algún día Dios nos diga: "En lo poco has sido fiel, en lo mucho te pondré."

Considera:
¿Necesitas un objeto o figura para sentir la presencia de Dios o simplemente cierras tu ojos y comienzas a adorarle?
¿Puedes sentir a Dios continuamente?
