Story Transcript:

Nb: Oslo lysnet. Dagen våknet. Det var torsdag. Astrid, Ole, og Ingrid var bestevenner. De bodde i Oslo. De hadde en utenlandsk venn. Han het Juan. Han var fra Spania.
En: Oslo started to brighten. The day woke up. It was Thursday. Astrid, Ole, and Ingrid were best friends. They lived in Oslo. They had a foreign friend. His name was Juan. He was from Spain.

Nb: Denne dagen møttes de alle i Frognerparken. Solen smilte. Trærne var grønne. Vennen fra Spania, Juan, var forvirret. Han spurte, "Hva er 'kos'?". Ingen ord på spansk betydde 'kos'.
En: That day, they all met in Frogner Park. The sun was smiling. The trees were green. Their friend from Spain, Juan, was confused. He asked, "What is 'kos'?" No words in Spanish meant 'kos'.

Nb: Astrid begynte å forklare. Hun sa, "Å 'kose' seg kan være mange ting". Hun viste Juan sin kaffekopp. "Dette er 'kos' for meg", sa hun. Hun likte å drikke kaffe. I solen. Med musikk. Med venner.
En: Astrid began to explain. She said, "To 'kos' can mean many things." She showed Juan her coffee cup. "This is 'kos' for me," she said. She liked to drink coffee. In the sun. With music. With friends.

Nb: Så tok Ole sin tur. Han pekte på hunden sin. "Dette er 'kos' for meg", sa han. Han likte å leke med hunden. I parken. På ettersommeren. Med vennene sine.
En: Then it was Ole's turn. He pointed to his dog. "This is 'kos' for me," he said. He liked to play with the dog. In the park. In late summer. With his friends.

Nb: Til slutt snakket Ingrid. Hun holdt en bok. "Dette er 'kos' for meg", sa hun. Hun likte å lese. I skyggen av et tre. I godt selskap.
En: Finally, Ingrid spoke. She held a book. "This is 'kos' for me," she said. She liked to read. In the shade of a tree. In good company.

Nb: Juan ble glad. Og litt mindre forvirret. Han forsto litt mer. Det var ikke et perfekt oversettelse. Men han forsto konseptet.
En: Juan became happy. And a little less confused. He understood a little more. It wasn't a perfect translation. But he grasped the concept.

Nb: De satt i parken. De snakket. De lo. De hadde det gøy. Juan opplevde 'kos'. Han fikk nye minner. Han skjønte at 'kos' er viktig i Norge.
En: They sat in the park. They talked. They laughed. They had fun. Juan experienced 'kos'. He gained new memories. He realized that 'kos' is important in Norway.

Nb: Da solen gikk ned, dro de hjem. Juan sa, "Takk for at dere lærte meg 'kos'". De smilte. De var glade. De hadde hatt en fin dag. De hadde delt 'kos'.
En: As the sun went down, they went home. Juan said, "Thank you for teaching me 'kos'." They smiled. They were happy. They had had a nice day. They had shared 'kos'.

En: And Juan, well, he learned that enjoying oneself doesn't always need a translation. It's about enjoying. Enjoying life. Enjoying company. Enjoying the moment. And Juan, the friend from Spain, experienced just that.

Nb: Historien slutter der. Oslo mørknet. Dagen sovnet. Men vennskapet til Astrid, Ole, Ingrid og Juan vokste sterkere. Fordi de delte 'kos'. Og 'kos', det er et stykke av Norge.
En: The story ends there. Oslo darkened. The day fell asleep. But the friendship of Astrid, Ole, Ingrid, and Juan grew stronger. Because they shared 'kos'. And 'kos', that's a piece of Norway.
