On a moonlit island off the East African coast, a British Residency braces for an uprising as native drums pound through the night and rumors swirl of a towering witch doctor marching toward the shore. When a mysterious stranger slips uninvited into the drawing room performing sleight-of-hand tricks, the family must decide whether he's a lunatic, a conjurer, or the key to a deadly colonial power struggle. Adapted from a John Dickson Carr tale, this episode blends period intrigue, gunrunning diplomats, and old-world mysticism into a slow-burning tale of nerve and deception.
