There are five lessons from the Hawaii Wildfile response - Mass notifications matter, and they mattered in Maui Wildfires this summer.

Sirens are just noise makers, don’t get stuck in the policy vs application issue
Maybe the sirens could be heard indoors- at least try
People are smarter than you think, if they see a raging fire, they will run away
Doing nothing is unacceptable.
The process of approval remove the fire chief or other tactical response from the equation.
No more excuses. Innovate or get out of the way. Communication on an AAR is honestly just embarrassing for the field at this point. There’s enough tech and data out there to overcome every issue except incompetence.
