With the release of new single 'No Respect', Gold Coast metallers Kaosphere are looking to usher in a new phase of music for the band, culminating in a swag of new material throughout the year.
"'No Respect' has a fair bit of everything in it", explained vocalist Rikki Dyer. "There's hip hop and heaviness mixed in there and it's probably... I dunno, it's weird. It's a good song with multiple reasons behind it. There's the obvious theme of no respect for somebody who may be close to you that you've always loved or believed in and they've let you down and that's where the basis of the song came from".
In saying that, is 'No Respect' more a song of hope or despair?
"It's not all doom and gloom", Dyer laughed. "There's a little bit of that in there but by the end it's about the corrective actions that need to be taken".
In the full interview Rikki discusses upcoming singles and the next album, it's musical direction, the themes running through their new music, the early vision for Kaosphere and how it has changed, the current state of the heavy music scene including the recent festival and show cancellations due to the CoronaVirus and more.
