In Nigeria, the twin policies of fuel subsidy removal and a unified exchange rate, announced by the president, led to skyrocketing inflation. This economic strain culminated in nationwide protests termed the Hunger Protests, where citizens voiced their anguish over the soaring costs of food and basic necessities.
The economic situation in both countries, and indeed across Africa, demands urgent scrutiny and discussion.
