In the age of transparency, people tend to see through the bluff and bluster. What’s more, you need to be able to make strong, secure decisions. The only way to do that is to get yourself some real-world leadership experience. Confidence is an enigma for many of us. We know it can help us in many ways. And we hold it in high regard, knowing it can make a big difference. Yet we tend to view it as something innate–something some people have and others don’t. The truth is that, while some people have more of a disposition toward confidence than others, it’s something we can all build systematically.

Contrary to what many people believe, confidence isn’t a fixed trait. We’re not either born with it or missing it. We can acquire confidence and build it over time. As we improve and develop mastery, we build confidence. Our confidence can go up and down, and we can have high confidence in some areas and low confidence in others.

On this episode, we sit down with Author and Market Me Too, Founder and CEO, Kathleen E.R. Murphy. Since 2016, Ms. Murphy has been a highly sought-after mentor in the exclusive United States Women Unlimited Executive Mentor Program. In 2018, she became a Certified Gallup StrengthsFinder Coach and a published book author. She has mentored (5) Babson College MBA students, and hundreds of individuals during her career. In 2019, Ms. Murphy was appointed as an Advisory Board Member to the University of Maine Business School (Undergraduate and Graduate Schools), and in April of 2019, she was named Chairwoman of the Board of Directors for the Spring of 2020 Merrimack Valley Women’s Conference. Ms. Murphy works with individuals ages 14-100+ (Her Nana lived to 102). She also works with business teams and individuals just starting out in their career, all the way up to the CEO and Board of Director level. Additionally, she works with sports teams and their athletes.

Ms. Murphy focuses her talents on helping teams and individuals who are seeking far better or different results, which are achieved via her strengths-based coaching expertise. Ms. Murphy grew up in Lexington, MA and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Journalism and minor in psychology.
