After the war, when her home had come under communist control, her family courageously escaped Communism when she was still a young child. Her father made sure that the family not only escaped the tyranny of their homeland, but found freedom in America. Diem was raised as a Buddhist. When she was a child she said, “When I grow up and go to college, I will find the meaning of life, and will be able to tell my family.” When she enrolled in college in the United States, she found herself surrounded by Believers who shared the Gospel with her. Her college roommate introduced Diem to the Bible. Diem gave her life to Jesus and experienced peace and joy she had never before experienced. Diem has served her community as a public school educator in Bay County Florida for many years. She also has served the Lord in her local church in many areas, especially prayer. In this episode, Diem tells of the harrowing experience of leaving her country in a ship—hidden like a castaway—after hiding in a cemetery with her sister in the middle of the night.
