Radio Personality of Radio One, Ms. Vee Edwards

To some people she is Vania McNeary Edwards your community banker. But to her radio listeners she is Ms. Vee host of “Gospel Music At Its Best” With her show only coming into conception on June 1, 2011 Ms. Vee has interviewed some of the great gospel legends like, Dr. Bobby Jones, Inez Andrews, Shirley Caesar, Luther Barnes, Rev. Thomas Walker, Spencer Taylor and George Dean and she was the last radio personality to interview Bishop F. C. Barnes and Inez Andrews before their death. She has even included record executives D. A. Johnson, Gospel Division Executive Director for Malaco Music Group, Kerry Douglas, President of Blacksmoke Records and James Bullard, President & CEO of MCG Records to discuss gospel industry news and advice for new artists.
“Gospel Music at its Best” to her is “1 hour of fabulous gospel” and yes it is! On any given Wednesday night at 7:00pm you can hear, The Consolers, The Canton Spirituals, Dottie Peoples, Luther Barnes, Shirley Caesar, Bishop F. C. Barnes, Dorothy Norwood, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and The Blind Boys of Alabama just to name a few. Great gospel legends that you hardly hear any more but when you hear their voices you realize some of them are still here!
Her show was a vision given to her husband by God. However when he preceded to called her at work to inform her of this vision and that she needed to get on the radio and she laughed and hung up the phone. But to her surprise a tap came on her shoulder to remind her you must follow through and she did.
With two calls to WYCB-AM 1340 first transferring to a voice mail she called again and got Mr. McCamey who greeted her with warm word and the questions of their vision for a show. Surprised she stated well….to introduce and present to others traditional gospel music and its history along with the interviewing of gospel legends. Her concern was that the only time you heard quartet and traditional music from legends were upon their passing. And she wanted to give them there flowers while they were living. These legends paved the way for all gospel artists out here today and she wants people to understand gospel music has come a mighty long way. As one legend stated we had to go in the back door to perform and exit the back door to leave yes we have come a mighty long way. Mr. McCamy asked for an email of her vision and not without her first and second draft being accidently erased on her computer while she was trying to finish. But God prevailed and her third draft to him was better than her first and second and it was sent that night. The following morning she received an email to come in and discuss her possibilities and the rest is history. With a little polishing of the shows name and Vania’s renaming you got Ms. Vee. To God Be the Glory!!
As of today’s date this humanitarian, producer, writer, emcee, host and model is a 2015 Rhythm of Gospel Radio Announcer of the Year Nominee, 2014 Anjelica Records Music Love Award Radio Announcer of the Year winner, 2013 Rhythm of Gospel Radio Announcer of the Year Award winner, and 2012 Stellar Award Radio Announcer of the Year Nominee. Ms. Vee is no stranger to the camera co-hosting numerous times with Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones on his television show Bobby Jones Presents and Dr. Anthony Clark’s, Another Level Gospel Show.
