When I was experiencing “mystery symptoms” 12 years ago, and then again when my daughter was diagnosed with a rare neurological speech condition, I went on the hunt for someone who could help. In one case, though it took many excruciating months, I found the right person. In the other, I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did have quite an eye-opening experience. Here’s what I learned from those experiences.
