Sexual intrigue, workplace politics, obsessive love is all reflected in the epics, which are metaphors for life, says author Kavita Kane. In this chat, the bestselling writer of mythological fiction talks about how the much vilified Kaikeyi in the Ramayana may have just been playing her part in propelling Lord Rama towards his preordained destiny, the beautiful Meenakshi transformed into Surpanaka to plot revenge against her brother Ravana, the King of Lanka, and Menaka, the temptress was responsible for making Vishwamitra the Brahmarishi that he came to be.

Kane, whose soon to be launched novel is Tara’s Truce (on Tara, Vali and Sugriva’s wife in the Ramayana), has also written Karna’s Wife: The Outcast’s Queen, Sita’s Sister, Lanka’s Princess, Menaka’s Choice, Ahalya’s Awakening, Fisher Queen’s Dynasty and Saraswati’s Gift.
