Devesh Verma recites Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan Agyeya's literary gem, Sharnaarthi- a poetic response to the cataclysm of Partition in 1947.

Sharnaarthi is deeply satirical, and metaphorical poem. For instance, the two snakes crawling side by side are metaphors for communal hatred of the two communities, the kind that given an excuse can erupt like a volcano in no time.

One of the literary giants of Hindi literature, Sachchidananda Hirananda Vatsyayan Agyeya (7 March 1911- 4 April 1987) is considered to be a pioneer in introducing a new wave of hindi poetry.
