show moreAnimal Years is comprised of McFadden, bassist Anthony Saladino, and drummer Anthony Spinnato. The trio has pegged into every musical genre possible. The group recorded songs in Americana, folk, pop, and rock music. In 2017, Animal Years released their critically acclaimed extended play, Far from Home. Following its release, the band spent 18 months on the road that included opening for Blues Traveler and a sold-out show in New York’s Music Hall of Williamsburg.
The band received numerous praise from significant music media outlets, including Billboard, Culture Collide, and Earmilk. Rolling Stone named Animal Years as one of the “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.”
2021 is currently turning out to be the band’s biggest year yet. On February 26, the trio dropped This is An Album Called Animal Years, Part One - EP. This is An Album Called Animal Years, Part Two – EP, the second extended play is scheduled to drop on May 21. The entire album, This Is An Album Called Animal Years, is expected to drop later this year.
In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Mike McFadden shared the Animal Years’ origin story and revealed the lessons that the band learned from Blues Traveler. Mike also gave the stories behind the band’s hit songs, including “What I’m Fighting For,” “Talking to You,” “Friends,” and “Caroline,” their most streamed song on Spotify.
