show moreI'm sharing a different perspective this week for #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth💜. This week's guest talks about her viewpoint around DV that we don't hear about enough...coping with the loss of a loved one due to senseless violence.
Danielle Leverett-Gallaspy is a wife, mom, nonprofit founder, podcaster, certified psychometrist, credentialed victim's advocate & former educator. Most recently, she's advocating for the safety of survivors of domestic abuse. Helping others has been her passion for well over a decade.
After her niece, great niece & great nephew were tragically murdered in a DV murder-suicide, Dani struggled with coming to terms of the past abuse she witnessed as a child & wondered if there was a connection. In her journey to heal, Dani founded Our 3 Memorial Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)3 recognized nonprofit that's committed to creating safe spaces & situations for survivors of DV. Dani can also be found hosting her monthly podcast, My Survivor Voice, a platform for POC to share stories of how they've survived various traumatic situations. Follow Dani on Instagram, Facebook & Linktree.
The less-discussed aspect of DV pertains to the impact it has on the loved ones. Shedding light on this often-overlooked side emphasizes the need for comprehensive support systems that extend beyond the immediate victims, helping us develop more strategies to break the cycle of violence and create a safer society for everyone. Thank you Dani for shining the light on this side of the coin. Together, we can create an impact by continuing to share our stories!
*If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please know that help is available. Call the 24/7 National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) for confidential support.
