This week we will be diving into the complex discussion of Asian hate in Latin America, which has been prevalent for centuries. Over generations, affluent Asian communities have been established throughout North and South America in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and more. However, these groups have continued to face discrimination. Our focus for this episode will be the massacre of the Chinese community of the Mexican city of Torreón. The Torreón Massacre of 1911 resulted in the murders of 303 Chinese residents of the city.
