It is a pleasure to welcome actress and author Naomi McDougall-Jones to The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.
Naomi wrote, produced, and starred in the 2014 indie feature film: Imagine I’m Beautiful. The film took home 12 awards on the film festival circuit, including four Best Picture Awards and three Best Actresses for Naomi. She also received the 2014 Don Award for the Best Independently Produced Screenplay.
Recently, Naomi McDougall-Jones released her first book: The Wrong Kind of Women: Inside Our Revolution to Dismantle the Gods of Hollywood. It debuted as the number one new release on Amazon in the Entertainment Industry category. Actress Rose McGowan stated, “We need truth. The curtain must be pulled back, and Naomi McDougall Jones has done just that.” The Wrong Kind of Women: Inside Our Revolution to Dismantle the Gods of Hollywood appeared on multiple media outlets such as The Atlantic, BBC, Ms. Magazine, NPR, Playboy, and The Washington Post.
She also teamed up with Lois Scott, the former Chief Financial Officer of the City of Chicago, and founded the 51 Fund. The 51 Fund’s mission is to give women an equal voice in the entertainment industry, and it is a private equity fund granted to women filmmakers to produce, write, and/or direct feature films of any genre.
In this edition of The Jake’s Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Naomi McDougall-Jones talked about her latest film project: Bite Me, and the fifth anniversary of her TED TALK – “What’s it’s like to be a woman in Hollywood.”
