I (Krista Kayser) aka The Vibe Curator welcomes award-winning singer and songwriter, Missy Knott, who performs as Singing Wild Rice Girl and is the founder of Wild Rice Records. Missy and I discuss our history of how we both met after losing our respective fathers and how our grief informed that era for both of us. We talk about Missy's early career and the highs and lows that came along with it, healing from trauma and relationships. I share about the impact alcohol and addiction has played in my family and we share our mutual sobriety from alcohol. Missy discusses her journey of self-discovery and cultural identity, sharing her experiences of growing up in a traditional Anishnaabe community and later embracing her Indigenous heritage, finding her voice as Singing Wild Rice Girl.
