Working from home at first glance releases stressed commuters from their daily grind both the stress and cost of it and gives parents a fighting chance to reliably pick up their kids. It may even give you a sense of autonomy especially with a micromanaging boss. It even in a lot of cases increases productivity. Based on the fact that we are hard wired to be collaborative as we are tribal this is the antithesis of our social functioning. Humans as a rules are incapable of self direction and need to be led. That is an evolutionary phenomenon as we responds to hierarchy and leadership and therefore is a strength of religion and a fatal flaw of capitalism.
