show moreI have done some research on this and looked at some sonnets from a fresh perspective. Shakespeare lived in a world where young boys and men plated women's roles in the theatre. The theatre is renowned for being a place of refuge and support for gay men. But there are more clues to Shakespeare's gender nonconforming past, and perhaps some explanation for the missing years.
