Many of us unknowingly carry the emotional and psychological patterns of our upbringing into adulthood, often manifesting in surprising ways. One profound example is the feeling of always being in debt—not just financially, but emotionally, mentally, and socially. For some, this pattern stems from childhood programming learned from significant adults in our lives.

If we grew up in environments where love or approval seemed transactional, where we were made to feel indebted for kindness or care, we may internalize the belief that we must always "owe" something to others. This becomes a recurring theme in adulthood—whether it's constantly borrowing money, feeling obligated to meet others' expectations, or struggling with the weight of unspoken debts. The need to stay in debt to others might be a subconscious way of allowing them to exert control over us, reinforcing our own feelings of inadequacy or powerlessness.

Breaking this cycle requires acknowledging that we deserve relationships that are built on mutual respect, not indebtedness. By recognizing and challenging these learned behaviors, we can start to reclaim control over our lives, rather than letting others dictate our worth or obligations.

May this conversation be beneficial to your life journey. Many blessings!
