Ever wonder why some goats seem to faint at the drop of a hat?
Well, they're not fainting at all. These goats suffer from a genetic condition called Myotonia congenita, which causes their muscles to stiffen when they're startled. So instead of gracefully bolting away like a regular goat, they freeze up and, well, topple over like a furry lawn ornament. It's all over in a few seconds and the goats aren't harmed. Just momentarily stiff-legged and very, very surprised. So next time you see a fainting goat take a tumble, just remember, it's all in the genes. And not because they're scaredy cats.
